During this tour you discover South Africa which hosts a wealth of magnificent places and reveals its true rainbow aspect to the traveller. You will have the opportunity to discover on foot the ancient mountains of Swaziland and the magnificent Drakensberg. You will also discover two of most well known parks of the country namely the famous Kruger National park and the no less attractive Hluhluwe-Imfolozi park. This tour enables you to meet with the traditional people of Swaziland and Lesotho. Your itinerary ends in the Cape region where you will discover the winelands as well as the mother city "Cape Town" and the Cape of Good Hope...





















Day by day...
Day 1: Johannesburg...
Arrival at Johannesburg airport in the morning. You are welcomed by your guide and transferred to the guesthouse. We spend most of the day discovering Soweto including its distinctive slums and neighborhoods and will be surprised by the vibrant and sympathic character of this place. We take our breakfast in a local restaurant (included). In the evening we dine in a nice restaurant of one of Johannesburg lively areas (at your expense).

Days 2-4: Kruger Park…
Today we transfer to the largest national park of Southern Africa: the world-renowned Kruger Park. We visit the park essentially by vehicle. For those who wish, it is possible to do optional activities on foot (at your own expense) accompanied by an armed ranger and on open 4x4. Camping inside the park.

Day 5: Swaziland - Swazi Village...
We depart the Kruger Park and head towards Swaziland. We travel north-east, far from the tourist routes, in the green mountains of the Lubombo. Overnight in huts in a small Swazi-based camp.

Days 6-7: Swaziland - Malolotja reserve…
We depart on the west for Malolotja reserve. On Day 7 we spend the day walking approximatively 500m of walk return inside the reserve in the heart of a landscape with grassland interspersed with clear water. Camping in the reserve.

Days 8-9: Hluhluwe - Imfolozi reserve...
Today we make our way in direction to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi National Park. We settle ourselves in a small unfenced camp in comfortable en-suite bungalows. We discover the park by vehicle but it is also possible to do some optional game walks (at your own account).

Day 10: Zululand - Battlefields...
After breakfast, we spend another 2 hours in the reserve to look for animals. Then we set off in the heart of Zululand, through the "Battles fields" where took places so numerous famous conflicts in between the various groups of this country. We stop on one of the historic sites and shall visit the museum which redraws the events. Lunch on site (at your expense). We settle down in a lodge in the region. Have dinner at the restaurant at your expense.

Day 11: Drakensberg - Golden Gate Park...
Departure for the Golden Gate Park where we arrive in the late morning to build up our camp. In the afternoon, we walk in the park. Camping in the park.

Day 12: Drakensberg - Royal Natal Park...
Today is dedicated to climbing the Amphitheatre, starting from Sentinel and continuing through the ladders of the same name. At the top, we will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the land which stretches infinitely in front of us. We will also see the highest waterfall of Southern Africa: Tugela Falls, which drops 300m in three jumps (maybe dry at certain times of the year). About 6 hours walk return. Camping at the same place.

Day 13: Lesotho...
Today we enter the mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho landlocked in South Africa. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a two-hour return walk to view bushman paintings. Overnight in huts (shared bathroom and toilets).

Day 14: Lesotho…
Lesotho really is a hiker’s paradise. Accompanied by our Basotho guides, and with our equipment and food carried by packhorses, we walk six to seven hours per day (500-800m positive climb). We overnight in basic huts in Basotho villages (no bed, no shower).
We sleep in traditional villages, in huts of stones shared by the group (in the local way).

Day 15: Lesotho…
6 hours walk to return to the base lodge where we spend our last night.

Day 16: Lesotho - Cape Town...
Return in South Africa for a city rally in Bloemfontein where we wait for our flight to Cape Town. We visit Cape Town in the afternoon. Meals at the restaurant at your expense. Night in B&B in Cape Town.

Day 17: Stellenbosch - Cape Town…
Today (if the weather permits) we climb Table Mountain, Table Bay and Cape peninsula. Table Mountain cableway at your own expense. After a good refreshment, we make our way to the historic town of the winelands known as Stellenbosch. In the afternoon, we visit many vineyards and do some wine tasting. We then return to Cape Town at sunset. Meals at the restaurant at your expense.

Day 18: Cape Peninsula…
This day is dedicated to the discovery of the Cape Peninsula, the boulders penguins and of course the Cape of Good Hope. Overnight in Cape Town in B&B. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant at your expense.

Last day at leisure and transfer to the airport. End of the journey!

Nights of camping in tents for 2 paxs. All nights are in chalets, bungalows or B&Bs in towns.

Meals are prepared and cooked by the guide or the cook. In Imfolozi and Swaziland meals will be cooked by the camp staff with an original African flavour. In Durban, Franschoek and Cape Town, meals in restaurant.

Comfort is good. During the trek in Lesotho, nights in rustic huts with out water and electricity.
Difficulty...
This trip is accessible to the most people (kids over 12 years old). Note that no experience is need but you will need a good health for the walks in the Drakensberg and Lesotho.
